My dear Sri Chinmoy:
It is my pleasure and honor to write you these words of admiration for your astonishing achievements. You are a miraculous model of the abundance in the creative life that we lesser mortals seek, and I can only hope that I may some day meet you and perhaps participate in that cosmic fountain of stillness and profound energy which you inhabit.
Long life to you and your art.

Sri Chinmoy lifts 3 motorcycles with riders and pillion passengers weighing 3,101 lbs. at Aspiration-Ground in Jamaica, Queens, New York. On the same day, he lifts 9 English Channel swimmers (2,133 lbs.); disciples from 27 countries (4,150 lbs.); a giant pumpkin with 5 men (2,330 lbs.); two grand pianos with players (2,035 lbs.); and 10 mountain climbers (2,385 lbs.).
Over the past year around thirty Sri Chinmoy university meditation groups — Brandeis, Cornell, Yale, Harvard, Rutgers and Columbia to name a few — had been set up by his disciples. On 30 October 1970, Sri Chinmoy invites members of these groups to a talk and meditation he is conducting especially for them, held in Vanderbilt Hall at New York University. Most are coming to see Sri Chinmoy for the first time, some travelling hundreds of miles from as far West as Wisconsin and as far North as Canada.
Sri Chinmoy visits ‘Sacred Rock’ — home of Grammy-Award-winning musician Narada Michael Walden in Tiburon, California — to dedicate the first Sri Chinmoy statue. The installation was commissioned by Narada and created by renowned British sculptor Kaivalya Torpy.

Narada
Narada, Narada, Narada,
My Narada, my Narada, my Narada,
Narada of our Absolute Lord Supreme,
Narada for our Absolute Lord Supreme,
Narada of our Lord Absolute Supreme.
Narada, O Supreme Musician, O Musician Supreme, who collects the sufferings of the world with the Smiles of Heaven.
Again, you are the golden link between the sufferings of humanity and the Delight of Divinity.
You are the divine beauty of your aspiration-heart.
You are the immortal fragrance of your illumination-soul.
You are indeed unique. Why? Why? Why?
Your greatness has not taken away your goodness.
There are many, many human beings on earth whose greatness devours their goodness. In your case, your goodness is blossoming divinely, purely, beautifully, prayerfully and soulfully in and through your greatness. This is something unimaginably significant in a truth-seeker and God-lover’s life.
My pride in you shall always remain far beyond the flight of your imagination. Why? Why? Why?
Your heart is made of self-giving, self-giving to the Creator and, at the same time, to the creation.
Your heart does not separate, cannot separate, the tree from the countless leaves.
When you think of the tree, you think of its countless leaves.
When you think of the leaves, you think of the tree.
You see both the tree and the leaves as one unit.
This is something absolutely rare.
Again, I wish to say that your life's greatness and your heart's goodness are running side by side, in perfect harmony, like the flower and its fragrance, like the obverse and reverse of the same divine coin.
I am praying to our Lord Beloved Supreme to shower His choicest Blessings at every moment upon your heart that is aspiring to reach the Highest, the absolutely highest Realm of Consciousness, and upon your life, the life that wants to spread love throughout the length and breadth of the world.
Narada, my Narada, your heart is a birthless and deathless expansion of love.
Love is oneness, oneness is perfection and perfection is fulfilment.
The love divine is your soul's, your heart's and your life's birthright.
Again, I am telling you, my Narada, you are accomplishing the most difficult and most significant task.
With your soul's immortal oneness and with your heart's eternal goodness, you are blossoming beautifully and powerfully in the Heart of our Lord Beloved Supreme.
Indeed, in you is the perfect synthesis of goodness-heart-cries and greatness-life-smiles.

Sri Chinmoy is interviewed by News 12 New Jersey TV after lifting a 685 Aero Commander Aircraft plus six passengers (total weight: 10,527 lbs.) at Roger J. Miller Air Park, Berkeley, New Jersey.
Interviewer: Why do you lift?
Sri Chinmoy: Everybody wants to do something to make himself happy. This is one of the ways I can make myself happy, and I find there are others who are also inspired by what I am doing. From inspiration we get joy. So by doing this, I am inspiring quite a few people and from this inspiration they are deriving joy.
Interviewer: What training did you go through to do this?
Sri Chinmoy: About twelve years ago I lifted a seaplane and a helicopter. Since then I have not lifted any plane. Last month I started lifting up heavy objects once again. This will be the eighth plane I have lifted this month.
Interviewer: What next?
Sri Chinmoy: Our philosophy is the philosophy of progress. I will be trying to lift up a heavier plane weighing 13,000 lbs. This is my wish. If God permits me, I would like to try.
Interviewer: Well, it looks like the way you lifted up this one today, it will be no problem.
Sri Chinmoy: Oh, no. This one was quite heavy. Similarly, the ones that I lifted last week were no match for this one — and also I added six individuals, which increased the heavy weight considerably. By God’s Grace, I have done it. I am grateful to God and I am also grateful to those like you who came here today to inspire the occasion.

Sri Chinmoy is interviewed by Reuters TV after lifting several elephants at the Big Apple Circus at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Interviewer: Tell us the purpose of bringing out elephants and lifting them with this machine.
Sri Chinmoy: I am a man of prayer and meditation. I feel inspiration is of paramount importance. If I can inspire someone, and if that person also can inspire me, then we can do many good things for the betterment of this world. Here I am inspiring quite a few people, and they also are inspiring me. If I am inspired, you are inspired and he is inspired, then we shall be able to work together. When we are not inspired, we find fault with other human beings; we quarrel, fight and do many deplorable things. But if we are inspired, then we do many good things for the improvement of this world.
I am a student of peace. I would like the entire humanity to be in the same boat and sail towards the Golden Shore. Together we are trying to bring about world peace, and for that we need inspiration. An elephant symbolises strength, solid strength. Inspiration itself is strength. Therefore, I try to lift elephants because elephants are so heavy and so strong. If I can be of some service to mankind by lifting an elephant, then I feel my prayer-life and my meditation-life are fulfilling a special purpose in inspiring my fellow brothers and sisters to be better citizens of the world.
