Sri Chinmoy’s Soul-Bird drawing in honour of his Mother Yogamāyā Ghose

The Dawn of the New Year

On the first day of this year, I was in Nandi, Fiji. My father’s soul came to me and we had a marathon conversation. Then I became inspired to draw birds representing my father, my mother and my sisters and brothers as part of my series of one million birds. Although these soul-bird drawings are part of my one million, they are not like the other birds. These bird drawings are something special in my own life. In these birds, I have put the consciousness of my father, my mother and my sisters and brothers. I can see it very vividly, very vividly.

Strangely enough, when my students counted the number of little birds in my mother’s drawing, they found the exact number to be 3,127 — and I happened to be born in 1931 on August 27th.

January 5

Sri Chinmoy completes his first one million ‘Dream-Freedom Peace-Birds’ drawings in Suva, Fiji.

Sri Chinmoy’s Prayer

At 5:15 a.m., on the completion of one million Dream-Freedom-Peace-Birds

Supreme, my Supreme, my Lord Supreme,
My Absolute Supreme, my Beloved Supreme,
Today once more,
Out of Your boundless Bounty,
You are making me
A choice instrument of Yours.
You are completing one million bird-creations
Through my aspiration-heart
And dedication-life.
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord,
Do make my heart
Worthy of Your infinite Compassion
And my life Your immortal Victory.
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord,
Your birds are smiling
In Infinity’s Sky.
Your birds are singing
In Eternity’s Peace, Peace, Peace.

Note:

On the evening of January 5, Sri Chinmoy interrupts his ‘Soul-Bird’ drawings to offer a Peace-Concert at Suva Civic Centre, which he dedicates to President Gorbachev. He completes his one-millionth bird at 4:31 a.m. on January 6, 1994, local Fiji time. However, Sri Chinmoy still counts this as belonging to January 5, since, in Moscow, it is still January 5 – Raisa Gorbacheva’s birthday. Sri Chinmoy was determined to finish by her birthday, as the entire collection is dedicated to her. The final count is 1,001,919.
