Sri Chinmoy dedicates the concert to the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations
• Audience of 2,200

The Peace Concert was dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations. The Peace Concert was an outgrowth of the service Sri Chinmoy had offered at the United Nations since 1970, when he was invited by the UN Secretary-General U Thant.
Among the 2,100 ticket holders were over 40 U.N. diplomats and 300 U.N. staff members, as well as distinguished individuals from all walks of life. The Lincoln Center concert was one of two free Peace Concerts scheduled on consecutive nights. Because of overwhelming demand for seats at the October 28 concert, a second concert was scheduled for Tuesday, 29 October at the Beacon Theatre.
