i. On New Year’s eve, 31 December 1974, at the United Methodist Church in Port Washington, New York, Sri Chinmoy sang 100 new songs that he had composed during the previous two weeks, including ‘Hiya Pakhi’. His recital lasted seven hours and ushered in the New Year 1975.
ii. The 100 songs were published the next day in his songbook, Supreme, Teach Me How to Cry (1 January 1975).
iii. Sri Chinmoy frequently chose to sing ‘Hiya Pakhi’ at his peace concerts around the world, accompanying himself on the harmonium.
iv. The present recording of Sri Chinmoy singing is from the CD ‘Perfection-Dedication’ (Aum Publications, New York, 2013). The recording of Sri Chinmoy playing the esraj is from the audio cassette ‘Existence-Consciousness-Bliss’ (Sri Chinmoy Verlag, Zürich, 1983).
