During the month of February, Sri Chinmoy: met with UN Secretary-General U Thant (1972); completed 208 poems in 22 hours (1974); completed 10,000 paintings in 100 days (1975); first played the Indian esraj (1976); presented his 300 published books to the Harvard Divinity School Library (1978); ran the Inspiration Marathon in Hampton, NH (1981 and 1983); visited his birthplace in Shakpura (1986); performed his first public piano improvisation (1987); met with violinist Yehudi Menuhin (1992); lifted two 650-lb. dumbbells simultaneously (2000); in one day lifted nine elephants – the heaviest, weighing more than 8,000 lbs. in Thailand (2007)… Read more

Sri Chinmoy’s Peace Concerts

During his lifetime, Sri Chinmoy gained worldwide recognition as a prolific composer and a consummate musician. In 1984, he offered the first of what he called ‘Peace Concerts’ to an audience of 8,500 people in Cologne, Germany. For the next twenty or more years, he travelled the globe sharing the message of peace through his music.
